DJ The Prophet neemt afscheid in stijl: “Nog 1 jaar te gaan”

Na een lange en indrukwekkende carrière heeft DJ The Prophet zijn vaarwel aangekondigd. Na meer dan 35 jaar neemt The Godfather of Hardstyle afscheid met nog een laatste wereldtour, vol met nieuwe muziek: “Ik heb alles gegeven voor de hardere stijlen, maar het is tijd om uit de spotlights te stappen.”

DJ The Prophet begon in 1990 met het produceren van hardcore en werd onderdeel van de eerste Thunderdome-generatie. Bijna tien jaar later werd hij een van de grondleggers van Hardstyle, draaide hij op ieder Q-dance evenement en richtte hij Scantraxx op: het label waar artiesten zoals Headhunterz, Wildstylez en vele anderen zijn grootgebracht.

Het is volgens DJ The Prophet nu tijd om een punt achter zijn loopbaan te zetten. “Maar voordat ik stop, hebben we nog 1 jaar te gaan”, zegt de hardstyle legende in zijn afscheid. Naast veel grote optredens, zal de labelbaas met nog één laatste project de wereld overgaan: From The Hard. Verwacht een hoop nieuwe tracks (met artiesten waar hij nog niet eerder mee heeft gewerkt) en bovendien zal Dov ‘de verborgen schatten uit zijn catalogus’ uit gaan brengen. “Let’s end our journey together.”

Na dit jaar zal DJ The Prophet focussen op een nieuwe creatieve loopbaan. Vooralsnog zijn onder andere Decibel outdoor, Mysteryland en Thunderdome aangekondigd als een van zijn laatste optredens. We willen DJ The Prophet bedanken voor alles wat hij heeft gedaan voor de hardere stijlen en wensen hem het beste toe.

Statement van DJ The Prophet:

“Have no fear to fail…

I’ve always been able to express my passion, experimenting with music.
In the studio, I’ve enjoyed the freedom and space to explore fresh new ideas, experiment with music in creative new ways and do whatever felt right and comfortable for me at the time. Because of this musical freedom, I’ve been a part of the dawn of hardcore and 10 years later, the rise of hardstyle.

Hardcore and Hardstyle will always flow through my veins, that will never change.

However, I can’t overcome the feeling that after 35 years, I have been in constant service of the harder styles. In a way, Hardcore and Hardstyle is like a relationship to me.
Whenever I try something different or slower in the studio, I can’t help but feel guilty, almost as if I was cheating on that relationship.
As an artist, I’ve come to realise that I shouldn’t feel guilty about exploring new ideas.
I long for the creative freedom that I used to experience every day at the beginning of my career.

So, after 35 years it’s time for a new creative journey.
I would love to share what this new path would look like, but I’m afraid it’s something that I first have to feel, discover and experience myself.
For now, I don’t have a new name, act, or logo, so that’s not what this is about.

This new chapter in my life is all about experiencing artistic freedom again.
A new creative and musical adventure set out to create something new, whatever this may turnout to be.

Embracing the struggles will do me good, it will teach me how to move forward.
Undoubtedly, I will encounter many challenges along the way, but I am absolutely sure that if I keep an open mind and allow myself to see the beauty around me, it will open me up to many great possibilities and new experiences.

I would lovingly like to thank each and every one of you that has been a part of my journey through Hardcore and Hardstyle, my fans, colleague’s, friends, relations, critics, everyone.

Together we’ve made Hardcore and Hardstyle to what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for that. Without you I would never have become the person I am today, proud, happy and fulfilled.
