When did you first come in contact with Hardstyle?
”If I remember correctly it was when a Friend gave me a DVD of Qlimax back in 2007. I saw the show, I saw all the artists, heard the music and I was instantly hooked.”
Can you tell us how DJ’ing started for you?
”It was also around the time of 2007/2008 when I joined a small hard-dance internet radio station as a Resident DJ and started doing shows there.”
Who is your best friend/collegue in music, and how did this friendship begin?
”I have a lot of really good friends, but my best friend would be Patrick (Stargazer). We’re in the Studio together almost every other weekend. The Friendship started back in 2005, when we were still both in School. Then (around 2006/2007) we decided to start making music together.”
What distinguishes you from other artists?
”I try to gain a lot of outside influences, which are not from within the Hardstyle scene itself.
I sometimes hear some things in other music that I like and think about how I could use that in my own music.”
What makes your love for Hardstyle so strong?
”The music and the scene is constantly evolving, so you can always expect something new and exciting to happen, music wise. Also, if you go to festivals, you constantly meet strangers who are just as hyped about it as you are. And the best thing is: everybody is super friendly toward each other (most of the time). I haven’t seen things on this scale on festivals in other scenes yet.”
Who inspires you and why?
”From the start of my career until now, Noisecontrollers (aka Bas Oskam) has always been one of the people that have inspired me the most. He is always two steps ahead and almost always delivers something totally fresh, new and unexpected. That’s what I really like!”
What’s your greatest Hardstyle memory?
”It was my first Defqon in 2012, the year I played on the purple stage.
The most amazing moment was seeing the endshow live for the very first time. I don’t think there is anything better than that!”
What can we expect from you in the near future?
”You can definitely expect a lot more new Music! I’m currently working on a Remix for Geck-O, so stay tuned for that!”
You’ve been featured in this month’s episode, can you tell us a bit more about that (tracklist, choice of tracks etc)?
”I’ve decided to include a spectrum of my own tracks, including my latest track ‘Revolt’ to give the listeners a good impression about the range of my music and what I do. All the other tracks are by good friends who make great music and I wanted to support in this episode!”
Is there anything else you’d like to say?
”Thanks for having me on the show! And thanks to all those who enjoy and support the things I do!”
