What began as an Australian initiative by Vazard and Delete has grown over fifteen years into an international collective with a close-knit community and its own uncompromising identity. The legendary Spoontech sound – atmospheric, dark, and technically refined – is still recognizable. “They just made what they thought was cool,” says D-Verze, “and when no one wanted to release it, they thought: let’s start our own label.”

Together with Infirium, who has been responsible for mastering most of the releases since the early years, he reflects on that early period in the podcast. “The family feeling has always remained,” Infirium explains. “A new generation has joined, but the mentality is still the same: headstrong, passionate, and with a love for the underground.”

Spoontech’s New Direction

Current label manager Jordi Bastiaansen (also known as the “spoon manager”) takes listeners through the development of recent years. Since taking over management in 2021, Spoontech has undergone a clear transformation – without losing its roots. “I’ve been a fan since I was fifteen,” he says. “But if you want to grow, you also have to keep up with the times. The people who used to listen are now thirty or thirty-five. So you have to appeal to a new generation without letting go of the old.”

Under his leadership, Spoontech became more than just a label: a community driven by passion, creativity, and loyalty. “During REBiRTH, I’ve never seen so many people crying in the front row,” says Jordi. “That’s what Spoontech is: emotion, recognition, and connection.”

The Future: Chapter V and the Next Generation

Also joining in the same episode are Chapter V: the duo that symbolizes the new generation of Spoontech artists. They grew up with records from Vazard, Delete and Main Concern, and now headlining a spot on the line-up of Spoontech Society – 15 Years of Spoontech. Chapter V discuss the balance between tribute and evolution. “Spoontech used to be harder to understand,” the duo explains. “Nowadays it’s a bit more accessible, but still 100% Spoontech. We’ve grown as artists and as a label. And that’s what makes it so beautiful – we really do it together, as a family.”
