Preparations for Dominator are in full swing. During the PLAFONDDIENST Dominator Special, Dimitri K, Bössels and T.M.O. sat down at the E3 Beach to look ahead to the world’s biggest hardcore festival. According to the three artists, it’s the combination of Dominator’s raw hardcore atmosphere and outstanding sound system that continues to set the event apart from every other festival, year after year.

“Everyone wants to work with Dominator”
Besides its massive line-up, Dominator is also known for the many label and brand hostings spread across the festival grounds. According to T.M.O., that’s one of the things that makes the festival so unique. “I honestly think it’s really cool. It shows what every label stands for and it brings the right crowd to the right stages. It’s great to see all those different parties working together.”
Jorn from Bössels agrees and believes it says a lot about the status of the event. “It also says a lot about the festival that everyone wants to work with Dominator. It’s become an institution, I think. After all, it’s the biggest hardcore festival in the world.”

Bass moet je niet horen, die moet je voelen
It’s not just the stages that impress the artists. Dominator’s sound system also receives plenty of praise. Jorn from Bössels is especially looking forward to standing in front of the mainstage. “The sound goes straight through your body, it’s so powerful. In my opinion, Dominator has the best sound of any festival. When I’m standing at the mainstage, like during the final hour with Supreme Team last year, it hits so hard. You need five minutes just to adjust because you’re thinking: wow. It’s simply perfect.”
According to him, great sound is essential for the overall festival experience. “If a festival has bad sound, the whole music experience becomes a lot less enjoyable.” T.M.O. agrees and also looks at it from an artist’s perspective. “For us, it’s also a form of promotion. If the sound is bad, people might think the tracks are bad as well. I’d rather have less production and better sound. If there’s one thing you shouldn’t cut costs on, it’s the sound.”
Dimitri K sums up the importance of great audio for hardcore in one sentence. “For our music, it all comes down to bass.” As the well-known saying goes: you shouldn’t just hear the bass, you should feel it.
