Aversion makes an impressive statement with the release of his long-awaited solo ‘Lifeline’. The 25-year-old producer dedicates this new hit (featuring Nathalie Blue) to all fans, with whom he is on an incredible rollercoaster. “When I started as a DJ, I never thought I would get this far.”

The quote mentioned above comes from Aversion: when he announced his first solo event in AFAS Live. He started in hardstyle 7 years ago, has been working hard ever since and suddenly the express train called ‘Activation’ came along… This monster record is still being picked up worldwide by big stars like Hardwell and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, while Aversion has since added a whole series of collabs with D-Block & S-te-Fan, Sound Rush, D-Sturb, E-Force, Dimitri K, Adjuzt and Mutilator to his name. Aversion lives the adventure from a boy’s book.

Aversion interview

How Aversion’s ‘Activation’ is making its way around the world in a year and a half

“These years and a half were intense and full of highlights, and it took my career to a whole new level,” Robin Kesting now looks back on the period in which everything seemed to fall into place. In this interview we talk about the prelude to today’s record, because so much has been achieved in a short time. “And the fact that I can make music together with my childhood heroes/friends is a huge privilege. I feel incredibly grateful for all the opportunities and the success that I have been able to experience. ‘Activation’ has of course really changed everything for me. It’s amazing to see how that track is still being played on the biggest mainstages in the world more than a year later. That alone is a dream come true!”

From the start of this festival season, Aversion played ‘Lifeline’ in his sets at REBiRTH, Intents, Decibel and many others. “The inspiration behind my track ‘Lifeline’ comes from my deep gratitude for this genre, the love for the fans, and the bond we have built through music. ‘Lifeline’ is a tribute to everyone who has supported me and continues to inspire me to do what I love most.”

‘Lifeline’: a special solo that revolves around the fans

After a long list of collabs, ‘Lifeline’ came about in a special way. “The creative process started with Nathalie Blue’s vocal, which immediately set the tone for the entire song.” The vocalist previously worked on records for D-Sturb and Devin Wild, and she nailed it again this time. “Her voice brought so much emotion and depth that it was the perfect basis for a deep and emotional track for me. Once I had her vocal, the rest pretty much followed!”

The record ‘Lifeline’ illustrates Aversion’s versatility: crystal-clear, high-quality productions. “This solo is special because I always try to produce music on a broad spectrum.” According to the always cheerful DJ, ‘Activation’ is really a record for the dancefloor, while ‘Face Of Chaos’ is very dark and hard. “‘Lifeline’ stands out in that it takes a completely different direction in my music. For this track I wanted to create a real endshow vibe and I’m very proud of the result!”

Today is an ode to the fans. “Without your love, support and passion none of this would be possible”, says Aversion in his post earlier this week. He came to this realization during several bizarre moments last year. “My return to a packed BLUE at Defqon.1 (both solo and b2b with the guys from Rebelion) were moments when it really hit me how important my fans are to me. The energy and passion I felt there were indescribable.” Because after the best opening of the BLUE in 2023 (in which this mega tent was already full after half an hour), the atmosphere this year was of an even higher level.

“There are moments of uncertainty, pressure and fatigue that are not always visible to the outside world”

We are mainly talking about the high peaks now, but when you draw a literal lifeline, it also has downsides. Aversion explains that you have to be prepared to work through this and make sacrifices. “There are moments of uncertainty, pressure and fatigue that are not always visible to the outside world. It takes not only discipline and dedication, but also the willingness to continuously improve yourself and take on new challenges. Sometimes you have to make choices that are not easy, such as missing time with family and friends, to achieve your goals. But the love and passion of the fans gives me the strength to persevere. It is a constant balance between enjoying the high peaks and overcoming the lows.”

Aversion about 2024 and Lifeline

“Dare to dream, baby!”

2024 is the year of new territories: Aversion had multiple foreign shows such as Tomorrowland, Asteria in Australia and his debut in faraway countries such as Japan. “People were partying here with homemade Aversion merchandise”, he proudly says about the fact that people do this even on the other side of the world. “That touches me deeply and shows me how far the love for my music reaches. This made me realize that without the love, support and passion of the fans, none of this would be possible.” That is why there is ‘Lifeline’: a tribute to the audience. The reactions online are full of praise today: “There are three things in life that are certain: taxes, death and Aversion bangers.”

This conversation is very much about dreams – just like the announcement of the first Aversion solo event in the AFAS Live next year. The term “Dare To Dream” was introduced and says a lot about his ambitions. “I dream of sharing my music all over the world, staying as close to my audience as possible and offering innovative musical experiences that inspire people. My dream is to make a lasting impact in the music industry, to keep challenging myself and reaching new milestones that motivate others to pursue their dreams too. Dare to dream, baby!”

“To everyone reading this…”

“Thank you so much for your incredible support and passion. Whether you’re an aspiring producer or a music lover: stay curious and keep that passion going. Dream big and dare to pursue those dreams, because it’s the courage to dream that pushes you to make them come true!”

Aversion – Lifeline (ft. Nathalie Blue) is out today on the official channels of TC Records. “Enjoy ‘Lifeline’ and hope to see you all on 01.02.2025 at the very first Aversion event in the legendary AFAS Live!” Tickets are available via the official website.
