The origin of ‘What’s A Girl To Do’ lies with Fatima Yamaha, the alias of the Dutch producer Bas Bron, whom many also know from De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig. The track appeared in the mid-2000s and slowly grew into a beloved underground classic. Not an instant hit, but a song that managed to restrise itself through clubs and enthusiasts worldwide.

Years later, Luvstruck brought the track to the attention again with a version that definitely pushed the song towards the general public. What once began as a subtle, hypnotising dance record once again became a global hit. The irresistible melody (or musical earworm) proved timeless and formed the basis for a huge amount of remixes in a variety of styles.

Now it’s D-Sturb’s turn to make his mark. The hardstyle artist translates the recognisable melody into a powerful, emotional and energetic remix that fits perfectly within his sound. The track has already been extensively tested on major stages, with good reactions during REBELLiON Indoor, I AM HARDSTYLE – Eternal and Knockout Outdoor, among others.

D-Sturb’s ‘What’s A Girl To Do’ remix is now out on Spinnin’ Records. It immediately raises the question: which iconic dance tracks do you think deserve a hardstyle revival even more?
