The ultimate childhood dream for every artist: your track premiering in a sold-out GelreDome during Qlimax. For Rejecta, that moment became a reality – and it changed his career forever. The Roughstate DJ candidly reflects on how this iconic chapter came to be in front of a crowd of 27,500.

Wesley Joosten, aka Rejecta, quietly crafted his sound for years. “I spent four years in my studio, only coming out when it was truly good enough,” he says. While friends and family wondered what he was even doing ‘in that room,’ he patiently built something he knew had to be a hit. And it was: harder than he could ever have imagined.

From an anonymous basement producer to a permanent fixture on mainstages worldwide

When Frequencerz first played his track ‘Followed’ at Qlimax 2017, Rejecta was in the crowd. “When that track got mixed in… I couldn’t believe it,” recalls the man behind the Decibel, REBELLiON, and Shockerz anthems. “People around me didn’t even know it was my track. I was enjoying it, and they couldn’t believe it.” Not long after, his second track ‘Deserve To Die’ was unexpectedly played, completing his breakthrough. “I was enjoying it so much that people around me thought: that guy’s no good, haha.”

In the podcast, the conversation goes beyond just his Qlimax moment. Rejecta talks about how the Frequencerz helped him get started, how he developed his famous drive in tracks, and why his music never stands still. “I want you to naturally move when my music starts,” he explains.

Rejecta is working on an anthem: “For a party that doesn’t have one yet.”

New chapters are also being explored. From his brand-new live act Patient Zero (“I infect people with my music”) to upcoming collaborations with artists like Galactixx, E-Force, and Radical Redemption. Scoops are dropped about remixes, an upcoming anthem, and even his love of fishing. “The anthem is for an event that hasn’t had an anthem before…”
