Noisecontrollers showcases his most innovative side with his latest release Light Up Your Eardrums, set to drop this Friday. In this track, he experiments with 8D audio – a technique rarely used in hardstyle, creating a truly unique listening experience.

“With 8D audio, you can make sounds move not just from left to right, but all around you – as if they’re coming from the front, side, or even behind you.” This effect is achieved through subtle differences in reverb, clarity, and timing between both ears. It works best with headphones. “It feels like a new dimension opens up for the listener,” Noisecontrollers explains. “I applied it to specific FX elements in the track to keep it musically coherent. Don’t worry – my kicks won’t be flying behind your back just yet!” he laughs.

An idea born during the pandemic

The concept for 8D audio took shape during the COVID pandemic, when Noisecontrollers came across many experimental 8D demos on social media. “It’s a lot harder to implement in music. You can’t just have a melody or drumline floating around without it sounding unnatural. That’s why I carefully selected sounds that would suit this treatment.” He hopes to use the effect more often in future productions – as long as it adds something musically meaningful. “It has to enhance the track, not just be a gimmick.”

Een melody with a twist

Light Up Your Eardrums doesn’t just stand out in terms of sound design. Musically, it also breaks convention – the melody doesn’t last 16 bars, but 15.5. “It’s a tiny detail that most people won’t consciously notice, but it gives the track a unique flow. Honestly… this might be my most beautiful melody ever,” he says with a smile. And for the DJs: “Use the club version and mix out during the outro – you’re good to go.”

Harmony: solos and collabs

The track is part of the broader Harmony project, which marks a creative outburst for Noisecontrollers. “I’m really happy to be releasing so much music again. Especially my solo tracks – they’re a true reflection of my signature sound, just more musical.” There’s also plenty of collaboration coming up, including with The Pitcher and Ecstatic.

Harmony on stage

Under the Noisecontrollers presents: Harmony banner, he’s bringing exclusive sets to the stage. “Expect a combination of unreleased tracks from the album, my favorite Noisecontrollers classics from the past twenty years, and some surprises. Anything can happen – but the focus is on exclusive music you won’t hear anywhere else.”
