Mysteryland has broken its silence after a year without the festival. Last month would normally have marked the return of the ‘mother of all Dutch festivals’, but in 2026, the grounds in Haarlemmermeer remained quiet. Now, the organization is looking towards the future. With a new video and the message “Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?” the road to Mysteryland 2027 appears to have officially begun. However, a date for its return has yet to be announced.

Last week, Mysteryland showed a new sign of life across its channels. “This year, we went quiet and asked ourselves who we really are. Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?” the organization wrote. That same search for identity is at the heart of the accompanying video. Mysteryland explains that it deliberately went quiet for a year to listen, reflect and take a fresh look at itself.

Mysteryland and the harder styles
Mysteryland first saw the light of day in 1993, making it the oldest dance festival in the Netherlands. Since 2003, the iconic event has taken place in Haarlemmermeer. The harder styles have also been an integral part of the festival for many years. Thunderdome hosted its own stages at Mysteryland, while the Q-dance stage became a regular destination for hardstyle fans.
After the partnership with Q-dance came to an end in 2024, the harder styles remained part of the festival. During the most recent edition in 2025, the festival featured hostings by artists including Ran-D, Rebelion and Sound Rush.
The new campaign has also received plenty of enthusiastic reactions from within the scene. Artists including Adaro, Sound Rush, Galactixx, Luna, Bass Modulators, Mish and The Saints responded positively. Villain called Mysteryland “THE MOTHER OF ALL FESTIVALS”, while The Purge simply wrote: “It’s back.”
Why was there no Mysteryland in 2026?
In 2025, Mysteryland announced that it had deliberately decided to skip a year. Rising event costs and changing expectations among festivalgoers prompted the organization to reconsider the entire concept.
Managing Director Anna Wijntjes described it at the time as a “fundamental reset.” Rather than simply changing a few elements, Mysteryland wanted to truly start over. “We’re starting from scratch,” she explained. A new creative team was subsequently tasked with shaping the future of the festival. The new campaign appears to build directly on that process. While Mysteryland announced last year that it wanted to redefine what the festival should be, it is now literally asking the question: “Who are we?”
Mysteryland returns in 2027
One thing is certain: Mysteryland will return in 2027. Pre-registration is now open, while Haarlemmermeer will remain the festival’s home. Those who pre-register will be among the first to receive new information about the upcoming edition.
Exactly when Mysteryland will return has yet to be announced. The organization is also keeping quiet about the line-up and what the renewed festival will look like. That means the role of the harder styles remains unknown for now as well. After a year of silence, however, the first step towards a new Mysteryland has officially been taken.
