RIVM: “Festivals in Noord-Brabant region of The Netherlands canceled due to coronavirus”

Just now, the safety authorities have held an press conference and all events and all big events in Noord-Brabant (the southern province in The Netherlands) are forbidden for the upcoming 7 days. This means that Pussy lounge is cancelled for this weekend due to the coronavirus.

“Up until Monday, we have to consolidate as Noord-Brabant, so that the virus can be spread.” However, this is not the case for other harder styles festivals, such as REBiRTH Festival and Intents Festival, since the government is talking about the period of 10 until 17 March. This Monday, the authorities will give an update about the whole situation.

B2S: “The last days, we have been in close contact with local authorities concerning the developments around the COVID-19 (Corona) virus. Today, it is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that the authorities have decided to cancel Pussy lounge Winter festival.

Our teams are working year-round, day and night, with only one goal: to overwhelm our visitors at every single event and have them go home with a great experience that will be talked about for years to come. However, the safety of our visitors, artists and employees is paramount.

Even though the situation is beyond our control, we sincerely hope for your understanding. Tickets that have already been purchased will remain valid for the upcoming summer edition in Breda on June 20. Ticket buyers will receive a message about this soon.”

REBiRTH: “Because REBiRTH Festival will take place in 4 weeks, there is currently no reason to cancel the event. The recently announced measures from the province of Noord-Brabant to cancel major events applies until Monday, March 16.

We are monitoring the situation very closely and we’re following the instructions of the (local) government and the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment). If the situation changes, we will communicate this immediately on our website and social media.”

What can I do at festivals to prevent the spread of the coronavirus?

The most important measures you can take to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are straightforward, says RIVM. These measures apply to all viruses that can cause flu and colds. It is always important to follow up these basic hygiene measures:

  • Wash your hands with soap regularly
  • Cough and sneeze on the inside of your elbow
  • Use paper handkerchiefs
