Sound Rush is known for their energetic and melodic hardstyle. The euphoric hardstyle duo has also created anthems for major festivals such as Defqon.1 and Reverze. In the first episode of the new season of PLAFONDDIENST, Jeroen and Martijn talk about the start of their careers, their ‘Journey Through Sound’ event and journey sets in general.

Journey sets are popping up like mushrooms this season, and Sound Rush is also getting involved with them this year. They are performing at REBiRTH with a 15 Years Special and also have their own event, hosting and set at Decibel outdoor with their Journey Through Sound. Martijn explains what a journey set means to them: “It’s a journey through your career.” Twin brother Jeroen adds, “It’s like a journey from your first to your last release.”
“We hope this is a great opportunity to attract a younger audience to the euphoric side.”
The idea for the event started a year ago. “We all see how extreme things can get in the hardstyle world, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s mostly an opinion, and there’s a lot of complaining. So we wanted to bring a bit of every sound with our event. There are many classics and rawstyle events, but there’s not much focus on an old-school build-up. So from classics to euphoric and then a bit harder melodic raw,” says Jeroen. Melody is the common thread running through the Journey Through Sound event.

Over the rise of journey sets in general, the brothers are excited. “The variation between your old tracks and your latest releases can work really well. On most mainstages, you mostly play tracks from the last three or four years. But unless it’s an exception, you don’t really play anything from before that. With a journey set, you get to bring those tracks back.” Their Journey Through Sound sets will each last 90 minutes, and every set will feature a B2B segment with a special guest. These will be artists they’ve collaborated with in the past.
