Update measures against coronavirus: hospitality industry closed until April 28th, events still forbidden until June 1st
It has just been announced how the measures being taken in The Netherlands against the coronavirus will be prolonged. All measures until April 6th, will be enforced until the 28th of April. Events that need a permit are still forbidden until the 1st of June.

It’s also still advised to keep 1.5 meters distance from each other and stay at home as much as possible. “After the 28th of April we’ll definitely not go back to the old ways immediately”, the Prime Minister shared. A week before the 28th of April it will be announced whether these measures will be prolonged, and we might also get some more clarity about the festival season in The Netherlands.
What can I do to prevent the spread of the coronavirus?
The most important measures you can take to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are straightforward, says RIVM. These measures apply to all viruses that can cause flu and colds. It is always important to follow up these basic hygiene measures:
- Stay home: only leave the house when necessary
- Keep your distance from each other: 1.5 meters
- Wash your hands with soap regularly
- Cough and sneeze on the inside of your elbow
- Use paper handkerchiefs
