With his new release ‘Blast From The Past’, Adaro takes a surprisingly nostalgic turn. The track is full of classic hardstyle influences and stays so true to that old-school vibe that Adaro confidently includes it in his classic sets, something rarely seen with a 2025 release.

“The track is inspired by early melodic hardstyle,” Adaro explains. “It’s also made in triplet style, a type of flow that lives in melodies and emotion, which I think is used far too little these days.” The idea came to him while playing classic sets, where he was struck again by the charm of that older sound. “I thought: this is so cool, and no one’s really making this anymore. So I tried to recreate that vibe using today’s production tools and I just had so much fun doing it.”

A modern track with a classic soul

Anyone thinking that revisiting an older sound is easy is mistaken. Still, for Adaro, it felt surprisingly natural.“Because it’s all about the melody, which I’d say is one of my stronger points, it came together quite quickly for me,” he says. “It’s not necessarily easy, since you still need to find the right melody, but it suits me.”

That melodic focus, combined with a classic hardstyle drive, makes Blast From The Past fit seamlessly into his old-school sets. “The track completely has that old vibe. I know some people think playing a new track in a classic set is ‘not done’, but honestly, so many people request it and to me, it fits perfectly.”

The scene in transition

According to Adaro, the track couldn’t have come at a better time. The hardstyle scene is shifting, and a growing part of the audience is actively seeking out nostalgia. “Extra raw dominates a lot of line-ups, which means many 21-year-old festivalgoers don’t really get to hear the stuff they also enjoy anymore. So they turn to classic events – and at those, they also appreciate fresh music.”

He also sees a broader movement forming that aligns with his melodic direction. “You can see classics gaining momentum, and there’s a growing push for OG Raw and euphoric hardstyle. That movement gives space to bring melodic elements back to the forefront. It helps create healthier, more balanced line-ups. It lets an 18-year-old experience the full spectrum of hardstyle – and that’s how we’ll naturally grow a new generation that’s open to more than just kick-drops.”

Overwhelmingly positive response

That hunger for melody and feeling is something Adaro has seen reflected in the track’s reception. “The response was incredible – just amazing,” he says. “It felt like the track had always been there. I honestly can’t remember getting this many DMs for a single release.” That positive energy has been deeply motivating. “It really feels like people were waiting for something like this. Every message or comment I get makes me genuinely happy.”

Capturing that old-school feeling in a brand-new production seems to have struck a chord. “I tried to inject that classic emotion into the track, and I think it worked. Maybe it’ll inspire others too, maybe we’ll see more of this kind of music being made again. That would be awesome.” The fun he had creating the track clearly left him wanting more. “I got so much energy from making this one. I definitely want to create more like it in the future.”

Adaro is gearing up for a big summer. In addition to this project, upcoming releases include ‘Catch The Thunder’, a remix of Outsiders’ ‘1 Team’, ‘Family’ with Level One, and ‘Those Were The Days’ an OG Raw collaboration with Katalyze. He also has collabs in the works with artists like Nightcraft and Atmozfears. Meanwhile, things are moving fast with Gunz For Hire – his project with Ran-D. Just last week, they dropped the raw track ‘The Devil’s Son’, with more to come very soon.
