An artist bio hidden in an old email, press photos stored on Dropbox, music links scattered across different platforms and a tech rider that seems impossible to find. For many upcoming DJs, it’s a familiar problem whenever a promoter asks for a press kit.

Backstage.dj aims to change that. The new platform, developed by Uptempo artist Kevin Steckler (Astro Blast), brings all essential artist information together on one central page. From music and social media to press photos and technical information for event organizers.
According to Steckler, many artists still miss out on bookings because their information is spread across multiple platforms. “I’m a DJ myself. I was tired of digging through old email threads to find my own tech rider PDF every time a promoter asked for one. The harder styles scene deserves better tools than scattered SoundCloud links and outdated Dropbox folders.”
Promoters often make decisions within minutes
The idea behind Backstage.dj aligns with a trend that is becoming increasingly visible within the harder styles scene. Event organizers receive more booking requests than ever before and often have very little time to evaluate new artists. In many cases, promoters need answers to a few key questions within minutes:
- Who is this artist?
- What does the act sound like?
- Does the artist have experience?
- How can I get in touch?
- What are the technical requirements?
When this information is spread across multiple websites and platforms, it becomes much harder for organizers to make quick decisions.
The harder styles scene is becoming more professional
Festivals are getting bigger, productions are becoming more advanced and expectations towards artists continue to rise. Where a Facebook page and a SoundCloud profile were once enough, many organizations now expect artists to present themselves in a complete and professional manner.
As a result, a professional press kit is becoming increasingly important.
More than just an artist profile
Backstage.dj is built specifically for electronic music artists and offers much more than a simple online profile. Users can manage their artist bio, press photos, music links, social media channels and contact information in one place. In addition, the platform automatically generates tech rider PDFs — a feature that, according to Steckler, is still missing from many existing solutions.
“The harder styles scene has its own conventions. Think tech riders, genre tags, lineup building and booking workflows. Generic music platforms don’t understand that world. We do, because we’re part of it.”
Artist already using it
Although the platform is still relatively new, several artists within the scene have already created profiles on Backstage.dj. Among them are Astro Blast, Unsyn, Vortexia and Rollz Royce. For promoters, this means having one central location where all relevant artist information is immediately available, without having to search through multiple links and documents.
Free for every DJ
The basic version of Backstage.dj is available free of charge. For artists who are actively performing and managing bookings, a Pro version is also available, featuring tools such as a booking inbox, calendar and booking pipeline management.

According to Steckler, the goal is to make professional artist presentation more accessible throughout the scene. “Every DJ deserves a professional press kit. We made the basics free forever because the bigger problem is artists losing bookings due to disorganization, not subscription fees.”
