Guess The Track: play the hardstyle game, and go for the highscore!

Fifteen years of Gunz For Hire will be celebrated in spectacular fashion this Saturday at The Dome in Haaren. On 7 November, Ran-D and Adaro will take the stage as Gunz For Hire no fewer than four times, alongside their individual solo sets and a joint performance with Roughstate Alliance. From their earliest RAW classics and forgotten gems to a hardcore finale with Angerfist, preparations are in full swing. In the latest episode of PLAFONDDIENST, the duo reveal what fans can expect and share that they’re also working on new music.

For Ran-D and Adaro, 15 Years of Gunz For Hire is much more than a regular classics show. The duo want to bring the different eras of their career back to life, including music that hasn’t been played during their performances for years. That requires plenty of preparation. “We’re normally quite spontaneous with these things, but that’s simply not possible with something like this,” they explain in PLAFONDDIENST.

According to the duo, fans shouldn’t have to worry too much about hearing their favourite tracks. “All the gems will be played. Even the forgotten tracks.” They’re determined to include as much of their catalogue as possible. “You’re going to hear everything.”

Four different chapters from fifteen years of Gunz For Hire

To fit in as much music as possible, Ran-D and Adaro have divided their anniversary celebration into four different Gunz For Hire shows. Each set represents a different chapter of their career, with its own musical direction. During Kings of the Underground, they’ll return to the early days of the act. “Those will mainly be the biggest hits from the early days. People who were there at Decibel back then are going to hear a lot of those tracks.”

Next, they’ll open their musical archives during The Vault. “What have we still got in the vault that we don’t play very often anymore? That’s where you’ll really hear all those forgotten gems.” One example is ‘Dope Man’, a track that was never officially released.

Then comes 15 Years of No Mercy, featuring the biggest hits from that era. The night will conclude with The Masked Military, a joint set with Angerfist. “That’s when we’ll take things up a notch. All the hardcore tracks will come out.”

“This will be the best Gunz For Hire show ever”

Putting together the four sets has proven to be quite a challenge. Not only do the biggest hits need their place, but lesser-known fan favourites deserve some attention too. Tracks that don’t make it into the four shows may instead be included in their individual solo sets or their Roughstate Alliance performance.

“Of course, we want every set to be equally awesome in its own way,” the duo explain. That means finding the right balance between crowd favourites and music for the dedicated fans. “You can’t do one set that’s only for the real diehards, because then you lose that atmosphere.”

Visually, the show will also revisit the past. Old trailers, intros and visuals will return, while different outfits have been prepared for the various performances. “It’s really going to be a trip down memory lane,” the duo say. Expectations are high. “I think it’ll be our best show ever. It’s going to be the full Gunz For Hire experience, one hundred percent.”

The event also features an extensive line-up, including Regain, Act of Rage, E-Force, Rejecta, Phuture Noize, Crypsis and Digital Punk. Frequencerz will also return for the anniversary. “They simply have to be there,” Ran-D and Adaro say about their former Roughstate colleagues.

New music with Angerfist in the works

Although the anniversary show is largely a celebration of fifteen years of music, new material is also being worked on behind the scenes. In PLAFONDDIENST, Ran-D and Adaro reveal that they’re working on music with Angerfist for their joint closing performance.

Interestingly, the artists previously collaborated on ‘Military’, a track that was never officially released. “A lot of people don’t know that we already had a collaboration with Angerfist. It was never released,” they explain about the track, which featured a Johnny Cash sample.

Whether the new material will be completely finished by Saturday remains to be seen. “We’re trying to finish a few things.” The duo also aren’t ruling out exploring hardcore further in the future. “Don’t be surprised if we release a millennium-style hardcore track at some point.”

“A celebration of everything we’ve built”

For Ran-D and Adaro, Saturday is ultimately about more than just the music. They also want to consciously enjoy the moment, especially since an anniversary celebration of this scale isn’t something that comes around often. “It’s a one-off thing. Something you only do once in your life. It’s a celebration of everything we’ve built,” they explain. “So we really want to take it all in and simply enjoy it.”
