As hardstyle fans, we’re all a little proud of our music knowledge. From instantly recognizing melodies to confidently calling out kickrolls, there’s a special kind of satisfaction in knowing a track within seconds. Festivals already put that knowledge to the test, but how good would it be to do the same at home with friends? Spotify may soon have the answer.

According to Android Authority, an analysis of the code in the latest version of the Spotify app suggests the company is working on a new feature called Music Guesser. The game would likely challenge users to guess the artist and song title based on short audio fragments, similar to popular music guessing party games like Hitster.

Not Spotify’s first attempt

This isn’t Spotify’s first try at launching a music-based game. In 2022, the company acquired Heardle, a music-focused spin-off of the viral word game Wordle. Spotify kept Heardle online for some time, but ultimately decided to shut it down in 2023.

Although Heardle never appeared directly inside the Spotify app, it now seems that the company wants to integrate a similar concept into its own platform.

A new way to show off your hardstyle knowledge

At the moment, there’s still no information about how the game will look or function. According to Android Authority, there’s nothing to show yet. For now, hardstyle fans can only hope that we’ll soon be shouting “Believe by B-Front” or “Race To Glory (Official Gearbox Grand Prix 2026 Anthem) by Fraw, Mutilator, So Juice, Teal and MC Focus” across the kitchen table at full volume.

What is confirmed with this update is a significant upgrade to Spotify’s lyrics functionality. Spotify is rolling out a global lyrics translation feature, allowing song lyrics to be translated into other languages, including Dutch. The feature was announced back in 2022, but until now had only been available to a limited group of users. In addition, Premium subscribers can now view lyrics offline. Just like songs, lyrics can now be downloaded and accessed without an internet connection.
