Three years after its release, TNT’s ‘2003’ continues to perform remarkably well on Spotify. The track by Technoboy and Tuneboy has now surpassed 62 million streams and is still being played around 100,000 times a day. Not only is it one of the Italian duo’s biggest successes, but it also shows how hardstyle is increasingly finding its way into other music genres.

‘2003’ continues to rack up millions of streams

On October 5, 2023, Technoboy and Tuneboy, better known as TNT, released their track ‘2003’. Three years later, it has become one of their biggest successes. The track has now surpassed 62.5 million streams on Spotify, with around 100,000 more being added every single day.

These are impressive numbers for a hardstyle track. While several major names within the scene have accumulated tens of millions of streams, maintaining such a high daily streaming count for an individual track remains remarkable. Especially for a release that is already three years old.

From ‘2003’ to an entire series

The success of ‘2003’ was followed by several new releases in the years that followed. TNT released tracks such as ‘2004’, ‘2002’ and ‘2005’, building on the recognizable sound of the original release.

These follow-up tracks have also managed to attract millions of streams. Both ‘2002’ and ‘2004’ have now surpassed 7 million streams on Spotify. However, with over 62.5 million streams, ‘2003’ remains by far the biggest success of the series.

A success beyond the hardstyle scene

One of the reasons behind the success of ‘2003’ appears to be its popularity beyond the traditional hardstyle scene. While TNT has been an established name in hardstyle for decades, the track has also found its way into the hard techno scene and onto major stages outside the genre.

For example, Nico Moreno played ‘2003’ on the Tomorrowland mainstage in 2025, while Paul Elstak and Cynthia Spiering dropped the track during Verknipt ArenA at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Restricted has also regularly featured the track in his sets. As a result, ‘2003’ is reaching audiences far beyond the traditional hardstyle community.

This development fits TNT’s musical identity, as their name suggests. The duo has always maintained a strong connection to the rawer, more techno-oriented side of hardstyle. With the boundaries between hardstyle and hard techno becoming increasingly blurred, their signature sound is clearly resonating beyond their own scene.

From 83rd place to more streams than the entire top 5 combined

Interestingly, ‘2003’ only finished in 83rd place in the Q-dance Top 100 of 2023. Although the track was far from being one of the highest-ranked hardstyle releases of that year, today’s streaming numbers tell a completely different story.

In fact, with over 62.5 million Spotify streams, ‘2003’ has now accumulated more streams than the entire top 5 of that year’s ranking combined. Those five tracks have collected approximately 52.2 million streams altogether, giving TNT a lead of more than 10 million streams.

The contrast is striking: while ‘2003’ finished relatively low in the annual fan-voted ranking, three years later it has become one of the biggest streaming successes among the tracks featured in that year’s list.
