Unfold Records celebrates 100th release with first group track
Unfold Records has reached a special milestone. The ambitious label was founded only two years ago but already has 100 releases: celebrated with the first ever group track of Sparkz, Heavy Resistance, Required, BMBERJCK and MC Activate. “The Story Unfolds.”

Unfold Records was started out of love & passion for the hardstyle scene and to be able to contribute to it. The label launched Backfire (known from Dual Damage) and has made enormous progress in just a short time: “We had the idea of making a group track together since the beginning in 2022, but the right moment had never come”, the label looks back. But now it’s finally here.

The Unfold Records sound can best be described as hard, unique and innovative. “We really believe in giving artistic freedom and encouraging people to try out new ideas and ways to make a track. This way it stays fun and interesting for the artists and the fans every time and we also add something new to the hardstyle scene every time.” BMBERJCK also agrees on this. “For me it’s the sound and the feeling. If you listen to our first records you can really hear that it was already there.”
The artists were literally at the beginning of their careers and grew together with Unfold. “We founded it together and weren’t that far yet,” says Sparkz. According to BMBERJCK, this was an exciting time: “I think we all had a feeling in the beginning that this was meant to be.” Two years later, the ideal moment suddenly appeared on their booking schedule: during the Unfold Records Showcase at the INDIGO of Defqon.1.
“We just do what we want and don’t care about the commercial market”
There is no better time for the first Unfold Records group track, so the men locked themselves up in a vacation cabin for a writers camp. “It’s always fun to be together and produce music, but it’s difficult because you’re busy with so many people”, Heavy Resistance admits. BMBERJCK immediately adds that fortunately there was a good (cold) solution in stock. “We succeeded after blood, sweat and 5 crates of beer.”
The track had to become a kind of anthem for Unfold Records and the theme of the track was also built around that. “Together with MC Activate we came up with vocals that we think fit our vision and rise in the scene. For the melody, this really had to give the right festival feeling that we all find important, that’s why we also deleted a lot of melodies because they weren’t good enough for this track.”
‘The Story Unfolds’ has now officially been renamed as the special 100th release of Unfold Records. “It is very representative of the identity of Unfold Records because it has all the right elements of a good track: hard kicks, a good melody, strong vocals and a lot of energy.”
Stream the group track ‘The Story Unfolds’ now via the usual channels. Unfold Records will soon also have its own event (in collaboration with REBiRTH) and of course there are many more releases planned.
