Vroeger Was Alles Beter has officially pressed “START” for its twelfth edition. For the third time, the classics festival returns to the Brabanthallen, where visitors will be taken to ‘The Next Level In Classics’ on Saturday, October 24. With its video game-inspired theme, the organisation continues its tradition of nostalgic concepts while simultaneously unlocking the full line-up.

The Next Level In Classics
Over the past few years, VWAB has built a reputation for its nostalgic festival themes. ‘Classics City Festival‘ transported visitors to a neon-lit coastal city inspired by the ’80s, ‘The Classics Cup’ revolved around the atmosphere of a football World Cup, while ‘Classics Reloaded’ transformed the Brabanthallen into a futuristic digital world.
With ‘The Classics Console’, VWAB aims to take visitors to ‘The Next Level In Classics’. A fictional game console serves as the centrepiece of the theme, bringing together more than thirty hardstyle icons across a variety of recognizable gaming worlds.

The first easter eggs appeared at VWAB Festival
The campaign for ‘The Classics Console’ already kicked off two weeks ago during the outdoor edition of VWAB Festival. Throughout the festival grounds, banners featured well-known artists reimagined in gaming worlds inspired by block-building games, iconic plumbers, classic fighting games and other legendary video game franchises.
The organisation continued the campaign online. MC Da Syndrome appeared as an NPC in an amusement park, where, just like many players used to do, he was dropped into the water by a giant claw machine. Sub Sonik starred in his own high-speed adventure as a blue hedgehog, while E-Force placed Brennan Heart and Ran-D head-to-head in a classic one-on-one fighting game.

More than 30 classics icons selected
The line-up combines exclusive concepts with familiar classics names. Brennan Heart vs Ran-D, Atmozfears vs B-Front and Josh & Wesz will all perform on the mainstage, alongside special concepts such as Wildstylez: Back 2 Basics, Noisecontrollers: E=NC² and Frontliner vs The Prophet: The Get Back 2 Back.
Area 2 also delivers a mix of classics and underground sounds with artists including Davide Sonar, The Pitcher, Geck-O and Sub Sonik.

VWAB LIVE
Alongside the familiar classics sets, VWAB is also introducing VWAB LIVE this year. What the show will consist of remains unknown. However, during VWAB Festival, the organisation already took another step towards a bigger show experience with a brand-new kick-off show featuring entertainment and daytime pyro, as well as an extensive endshow packed with classics, lasers and fireworks. Whether VWAB LIVE will live up to those expectations remains to be seen.
