Two and a half years ago, Daan and Matwey were still at the very beginning of Damaxy. After winning a DJ contest, their first major performance followed, but things moved incredibly fast from there. They have since performed at venues including the Ziggo Dome and on the Elektrum mainstage, while also collaborating with artists they were standing in the crowd for only two years ago. Sometimes, the realization of just how quickly things have moved only comes afterwards. “You only realize it later: wow, we actually played at the Ziggo Dome.”

One of the first major steps in Damaxy’s career came in 2024 through Classified’s DJ contest. Together with Detailed, they submitted an entry despite barely knowing him at the time. That performance still ranks among their favorites, despite everything that has happened since. “Whenever someone asks me what our best performance was, I still say Classified. The first edition. Something magical happened there. That’s really where something started.”
Things also started gaining momentum online. The set racked up plenty of streams, while hundreds of videos from the performance appeared on TikTok. Not long afterwards, REBELLiON Indoor showed just how quickly their name had spread. Damaxy opened Area 3, where visitors rushed towards the stage as soon as the gates opened. “We expected it to be busy, but we were also clashing with Exproz and Unload. Ten minutes before the set, I was already getting videos showing that the area by the lockers was completely packed.”
“Sometimes you don’t really experience it”
Since then, the bigger stages have followed in rapid succession. They are now also collaborating with artists they were still watching from the crowd just two years ago. “Sometimes you don’t really experience it because everything happens so fast. You only realize it later: wow, we actually played at the Ziggo Dome. We played the Elektrum mainstage. We have collabs with artists we were standing in the crowd for two years ago.”
That realization recently hit Daan when he visited the Ziggo Dome for a Roxy Dekker concert. “That was definitely a moment where it hit me: I’ve actually performed here too.” According to the duo, their lives have changed significantly in a very short period of time. “There aren’t many artists who have managed to do this so quickly. Our lives have changed so much in two and a half years.”
Classified still plays an important role in that development. The label helps them with everything from releases and branding to collaborations. “I don’t think we would have made it this far without them. They’ve really been a great support for us.”
From DJ contest to Supremacy
This weekend marks another milestone. Damaxy will open Supremacy together with Detailed as Supreme Talents, at an event the duo previously described as their biggest dream as artists. “When we got the booking, we genuinely had tears in our eyes. It was such an amazing feeling.”
The step to Supremacy highlights just how quickly everything has happened. According to Damaxy, they only started taking the project seriously around two months before the Classified contest. Just over two years later, they are sharing the line-up with some of the biggest names in raw hardstyle at the Brabanthallen. “It sounds really crazy, doesn’t it?”
The duo will also bring new music to their Supremacy set. Damaxy confirmed a new collaboration with Revelation, alongside new solo tracks and a new tool with Detailed. “It’s going to be Detailed and Damaxy, but a hundred times better. Just the absolute best thing we’ve done so far.”
