Defqon.1 has announced a major measure on Wednesday evening. Due to the extreme heat forecast for Friday and Saturday, Q-dance, local authorities, and emergency services have decided to restrict access on both days to Weekend Visitors only. As a result, visitors holding a Friday and/or Saturday ticket will no longer be able to enter the festival grounds.

“This was the only option to ensure Defqon.1 could continue”
According to Q-dance, the decision was made after extensive consultations with the municipality, emergency services, and other relevant authorities. Despite additional safety measures being implemented, the combination of the forecasted temperatures and expected visitor numbers was considered too risky.
“This was the only option to ensure Defqon.1 could continue this year.” Q-dance emphasized that the health and safety of visitors must always come first.

Fewer visitors should create a safer environment
By significantly reducing the number of visitors on-site, the organization and authorities believe they can provide a safer festival experience. This includes more available shade, improved access to facilities, and less crowding during peak hours.

Warrior Workout cancelled, POWER HOUR rescheduled
In addition to the access restrictions, parts of the program have also been adjusted. The Warrior Workout on Saturday has been cancelled due to the expected temperatures. “Given the forecasted temperatures, we do not believe it would be responsible to host a large-scale workout.”
POWER HOUR will still take place, but has been moved to 19:00. “The health and safety of our visitors must always come first.”
Compensation to follow after the festival
Q-dance has confirmed that visitors holding Friday and/or Saturday tickets will receive compensation. Further details will be shared after the festival weekend.
Nothing changes for Sunday visitors at this time. The organization will continue to closely monitor the weather conditions throughout the weekend and has not ruled out additional measures if necessary.
“To all Weekend Warriors: we will see you tomorrow.”
