In the latest episode of PLAFONDDIENST – De Hardstyle Podcast, Infliction joins the show for an open conversation about their rapid growth, Spoontech, and their own perspective on making music. What stands out most is how honest the duo is about their early days: success in hardstyle these days isn’t always about technically perfect productions, but primarily about impact.

When Tino and Wessel started out together as Infliction, by their own account, there was little sign of a crystallized sound yet. “Neither of us could do anything yet, but I knew things Wessel didn’t know. And Wessel knew things I didn’t know,” they say with a laugh. “Instead of five percent, we could suddenly make ten percent.”
That self-deprecating humor says a lot about the current state of the scene. A track doesn’t always have to be produced perfectly down to the last detail to work. If a record sounds good, is recognizable, and draws the audience in, that can be enough. “We get it, but sometimes we apologize to artists we look up to as well. They are so good that it sometimes feels out of place that our tracks are doing well.” ‘Insanity’ became the prime example of this for Infliction. The track grew into a crowd favorite: “It seems like the audience is screaming along louder and louder. We would prefer not to play it at all anymore, but it would be stupid not to.”

Since Classified and REBiRTH, Infliction has been hard at work: with ‘Ping Pong’ hype and a LIVE act
So it is mainly about the dancefloor experience. Infliction is now building on this excellently (together with Revelation and Hard Destiny), because since Classified, their ‘Ping Pong’ collab has been a big hit with the audience. “We had this idea lying around for a year and that track came together super fast. The beauty of it is that everyone has their own piece.” It is precisely that balance between simplicity, individuality, and audience impact that seems to make Infliction so interesting at the moment. With Infliction LIVE, too, they are consciously choosing their own path. Not blindly following the hardest hype, but making what they themselves enjoy. Within Spoontech, they feel they have the space for this: “We have now created the Spoon sound a little bit together.”
Infliction can be found on all days of Intents Festival. They perform three times as a versus with Bloodlust, one versus with Unique & Unload, and additionally with Infliction LIVE: the live set that has been the talk of the town since its premiere. Listen to this and much more about the duo in the new PLAFONDDIENST via all major podcast platforms.
