Last weekend, Dreamfields appeared to say its final goodbye with ‘The Final Dream’. Under sunny skies, thousands of visitors experienced what was meant to be the festival’s emotional farewell. However, that goodbye may not be permanent after all. This week, organizer Matrixx will open ticket sales for a potential 2027 edition, but only if visitors show enough support.

Final edition sparked a change of heart

According to Matrixx, the atmosphere during the final edition made the organization reconsider its decision. In a lengthy statement, the organizer explained that the overwhelming number of visitors asking why Dreamfields had to end stayed with them. “What an incredible day we had with all of you on Saturday. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The amazing atmosphere, the strong sense of community and the beautiful location make Dreamfields a truly unique experience.”

Although Matrixx had previously decided to end the festival due to the changing festival landscape, the sold-out farewell edition made the organization believe there may still be one last chance to continue.

Festival market made the risks too great

Matrixx says the decision to stop was not made lightly. Rising costs, increasingly late ticket sales and changing interests among festivalgoers were cited as the main reasons. “A festival of this scale, with so many artists, comes with significant risks – risks that, in the current market, we simply can’t always take.”

At the same time, Matrixx noticed that after announcing the final edition, ticket sales surged and the festival grounds were packed last Saturday.

10,000 tickets will decide Dreamfields’ future

To determine whether Dreamfields is still financially viable, Matrixx has come up with an unusual solution. Starting Thursday, July 16 at 19:00, tickets for Dreamfields 2027 will go on sale for €45, including service fees. If at least 10,000 tickets have been sold by October 1, Dreamfields will return on Saturday, July 10, 2027. If that target is not reached, all ticket buyers will automatically receive a full refund.

The same concept applies to Dreampop. Tickets will cost €10, with the event scheduled for Sunday, July 11, 2027, provided there is enough demand. If the required number of tickets is not sold, all purchases will also be refunded.

“It’s up to you now”

Matrixx describes the past few days as “surreal” and says the overwhelming response from visitors convinced the team to give the festival one final chance. “Together we can keep this dream alive and make sure Dreamfields & Dreampop return next year. It’s up to you now.” With that message, the future of Dreamfields is no longer solely in the hands of the organization – it now lies with the visitors themselves.
